Ingredients:

  • 2 whole eggs (plus 1 extra for brushing)
  • 2 cups warm full-cream milk (just warm enough to activate the yeast)
  • 50 g fresh yeast or 20 g (2 sachets) instant dry yeast
  • 4 tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 1 tablespoon salt (level)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (heaped)
  • Cake wheat flour (or all-purpose flour) – enough to form a dough that doesn’t stick to your hands

Instructions:


Activate the yeast:
In a large bowl, mix the warm milk with the yeast until dissolved.

Add the wet ingredients:
Stir in the margarine, salt, sugar, and the 2 eggs. Mix until well combined.

Form the dough:
Gradually add flour, mixing and kneading with your hands until the dough becomes soft and no longer sticks to your fingers.

Shape the rolls:
Shape the dough into rolls (any shape you prefer) and place them on a greased and floured baking tray, leaving some space between each one.

Let it rise:
Cover and let the dough rise for about 20 minutes or until puffy.

Bake:
Beat the remaining egg and brush it over the rolls for a shiny golden top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) until golden brown.
