How to do it
This Bread is one of the best budget meals you can make at home. Simple, fast, and made with ingredients you already have — ideal for beginners or anyone planning affordable family dinners. Let’s cook smarter, not harder.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons fresh yeast (or 2 cubes – about 30g total)
- 300 ml warm milk
- 7 tablespoons sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons margarine (or softened butter)
- About 5½ cups cake flour or all-purpose flour
- Optional: 1 egg yolk for brushing
How to Make It:
Mix the dough:
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, sugar, salt, eggs, and margarine. Gradually add the flour, mixing and kneading until the dough is soft and smooth, and no longer sticky. Stop adding flour once the dough reaches this point.
Let it rise:
Place the dough in a large bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a clean plastic bag, and let it rest in a warm, draft-free place until it doubles or even triples in size.
Shape the bread:
After rising, shape the dough into small rolls or a large loaf. Place on a greased baking tray or in a bread tin. If desired, brush the tops with beaten egg yolk for a golden finish.
Bake:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F). Bake the brioche until puffed and golden brown – about 25 to 35 minutes, depending on the size.
Serve warm with butter, jam, or cheese. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet afternoon treat!
